Taryn O'Gorman, In-House Instructor

Taryn O'Gorman

Taryn O'Gorman began her creative career working with textiles developing her own clothing & accessories. This was the path for many years of costume design & construction working with many of BC's live theatre companies, dance & circus troupes, as well as some film & TV work.

Once she had discovered how to approach creating in metal as she had through fabric, there was no looking back. Now jewellery construction has been the focus of most creative endeavours for almost 20 years. Studies started with an associate of Fine Arts from Camosun College, here in Victoria. Jewellery & small object design was first studied at Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, BC and then intensive studies at internationally acclaimed Sterling Quest in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She was featured in British Vogue in 2019 and 2020.

With these acting as a foundation, skills have transferred beautifully to precision museum builds, scenic painting for large galleries, public installations, and mount making for the Museum of Anthropology. She also led the metal team for the large artifact conservation and building of a historical site in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
