Melody Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction in Jewellery and Metals from the Alberta College of Art and Design. Her work has been recognized in: Dimensions 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2019, the Lewton-Brain Fold-form Competitions 2012, 2015 and 2018 and the 2018 International Metal Jewelry Artistry Awards. Melody’s work is published internationally in New Rings: 500+ Designs From Around the World and Art Jewelry Today 2, 3 and 4; and her articles on jewellery techniques in Art Jewelry Magazine. Awards include the ACAD Alumni Honour Award and Independent Artists Grants from the Saskatchewan Arts Board.
Melody’s interplay of shapes and surface treatments creates distinctive contrasts, evoking vividness of exquisite dimensions, which are rich, bold and engaging. She combines her studio practice with teaching, serving as Resident Artist/Studio Technician and Jewellery Instructor at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan for the past twelve years.
